Today was surely one of the happiest days I've ever felt in the last two weeks.

The day started with me picking up Echie (an epithet for Jessica) at Kutek, where she had to go to an internet cafe to send in some report to her boss at Enriching-Life. And then we went to the campus library to read up on internship reports done by the school's alumni.
We literally pored our hearts and eyes out on those internship reports. Plus we could only read 6 reports a day damnit!

We were at loss for words because it seemed like no one had ever done a report on what we wanted to write on.
So there were no benchmarks.
I must say Echie was luckier because she did find this report that analyzed the revenue of this oil company, although Echie wanted to write about expenditures (quite the opposite).

But nobody had ever written about risk management!!!
And the ones who did were Management students (I'm an Accountancy and Finance major) and theirs were, I'm sorry to say, poorly made!

Anyways we were gonna grab a frozen yoghurt after, but the traffic jam was not so friendly to let us do so.
Instead we did some shopping and Echie walked out of the store with a pair of pretty, pretty wedges plus 2 stockings (grey and black), while I got a pair of knee-length black socks and a pair of black thigh-high stockings. :)

Afterwards, we went to The Harvest to satisfy our sweet tooths. ;)

Echie had a strawberry cheesecake and I had a chocolate mousse.
We shared our blueberry tea. ;)

Being on campus, even for a short while made me realize just how much I miss school...

Not this part though.

Sitting upright on my bottom bed bunk, leaning on the wall, a Pokemon folding desk on my lap with a book propped open--in this case my Auditing book--with a stationery set ready at hand.

Hehe. It's quite uncanny for one to actually MISS school! But I do. And it was this that made up my mind to go and get a Masters degree scholarship before I decide to throw myself into the job market.
Plus it pays more when you're a graduate rather an undergrad I heard. All in all wish me luck in my studies! :)

View from my desk.

My desk. It was still morning so there were no paperworks on the desk yet.

What's in my drawer. ;)
Gotta have mouthwash and a mint candy!

Earlier this morning my mom raided my wallet for a monthly financial audit.

We were shocked. Literally SHOCKED!!!

I had spent both of my savings account to almost 1% of its original amount the beginning of the month. Literally.

Man, I am SO DEAD!!!

But looking back I did make a lot of purchases using the cards.

I used it on outfits, to buy cellphone credits, to buy books, to eat, to take out cash to put in my wallet, etc etc.

Man I am such a spender!!!

And looking back to my blog posts or my tweets or my fb status updates, I shoulda seen it coming.
It was so often that I tweeted/wrote that I splurged on this and that.
Why can't I hold myself back??!!!

*sigh*

I feel so bad for my parents.

What am I gonna do?

Today and yesterday alone I went crazy and had 4 major purchases.

This is really getting out of control.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a happier note, today after we (the family that is) had gone to UI so that I could borrow some books for finals, we went to Farra's cram school to pick her up.

We then performed salat at a nearby mosque where my dad's shoes were stolen so we went and bought him new ones at a nearby shopping center.
I had had a bad feeling about this--leaving the shoes unattended. But we prayed there times before and it was alright.
We were SO wrong.

It was just plain ridiculous that someone could perform such unseemly things at such a holy place.

Anyways, we went to Pondok Indah Mall afterwards to have lunch at Tokigawa Resto where the food ain't that good I'm telling you,

and then we went shopping.

This is when I lost control again.

Damn it.

Oh yea before I forgot. We (my mom, my sisters and I) found this sign at this gas station in BSD when we were on our way to the airport to pick up my dad on Thursday.

LOL.

Under the No Smoking sign were a list of cigarette prices.
And yes they sell cigarettes at the gas station.

Of all the irony.

Shoes.

So I have been eyeing shoes for work these few days. As well as pants.

Unfortunately the shoes that I want are incredibly expensive for my budget.
And so I decided to have them custom made.

After I pick up my sisters I'm gonna go to a shoemaker to have these babies done:

Giuseppe Zanotti Platform gladiator sandals

Giuseppe Zanotti Cutout rivet sandals

Balmain Crystal panel sandals

But I'm gonna have to make them all in chunky platform heels just because I wouldn't have it other wise. ;)

Gotta get going. Bye! :) :) :)

The shoemaker was out and I couldn't have the shoes done... But I brought home this very cute vintage-looking dress with gold flower buttons lol. ;)

So it was a HAPPY day! :)

Australian Winterwear.

This July I'm gonna go to Australia to attend AMUNC 2009 hosted by the University of Queensland.

It's gonna be winter there so I'm preparing winter clothings for the occasion.

The thing is I don't really know what type of clothes they do wear in Australia. And though I've searched the net and asked some friends, I'm still not satisfied.

But what I do know is that they're pretty casual down under and that the weather there isn't really very cold. I've read up on the net that winter there is like spring in London. If spring in London is like Autumn in NY, then I really shouldn't dress very heavily.

These are some inspirations, although I doubt very much that I'll be able to dress like them... ;)

Jane Keltner, Gloria Baume, Taylor Tomasi of Teen Vogue, March 2008

Carine Roitfeld, Christian Dior fashion show, February 2008

Julia Frakes (left) and "Givenchy bow headband lady" (right), Paris Fashion Week, April 2009

Now these are looks that I know I can't pull off... (Not like I can pull off the previous three though LOL.)
But I'd love to fantasize... :P

The first three are actually from their old blog, and you should actually hear me squeak "Eep!" when I found the pics posted on the front page. :)

Of all the coincidence, I just read on Garance Doré:

Girls in Australia, they take on autumn with a philosophy. It never really does get cold anyway. In the boutiques, sweaters mix it up with swimsuits and sandals. They pick out a few warmer pieces from a winter wardrobe but wear them with bare legs and caramel skin.

It’s like it’s make-believe winter, just for fun or something.

I love this interseasonal mix but it totally drives me crazy: I’m so jealous! And here I am, thinking I would come back and find springtime!

Pfff…. Take me back to my Australian autumn!

I've been wanting to post my outfit for last Thursday. But I never seem to have the chance to.

Anyhow, my lipstick/lipgloss is running out and now I haven't been wearing it to campus and am just saving it for when I go out.

I've looked everywhere in Jakarta's major malls whether they have my lipstick/lipgloss--yes it has that dual quality of being both a lipstick and lipgloss at the same time without being too shiny or glossy like you've eaten something oily.

But alas they don't have it. :'(

It's a Japanese brand, Couleur Inc., and I can only buy it when I go to Singapore during vacations.

But for now I'm just content trying to find its replacement, at least something that has the same bright orangey-red color/tinge to it.

Love their lips! :)

6:03 AM 4/19/2009

I have a runny nose that is triggered whenever I get into contact with water. When I went to take a wudhu, my nose began to run; after I washed my face in the bathroom sink, my nose ran again; after I took a bath, there it ran again. And it took such a long time before it stopped!

A usual ritual in my house is for the family to recite the Qur'an, tilawatil Qur'an, after the Maghrib salat/contact prayer.
So there I was yesterday, in the musholla with my runny nose, messing up my reading because of my inability to breathe properly.

When you read Arabic, there are certain length and tones and ways of articulating the letters, words and sentences. And because of that runny nose I wasn't able to inhale and/or exhale properly, which of course affects my recital of the holy verses.

I had a box of tissue on my left and every now and so often, in the middle of an ayat, or when I've finished one, I would blow my nose hard in order to get rid of all that mucus, although unsuccessfully I must tell you. This was okay when it was my turn to deliver the verses, but when it was others', I don't think one could hear what the other recited. Proper execution of the verses, in terms of how they are read and pronounced/stated was crucial in delivering the verses and its meaning correctly, and I was afraid that my blowing and sneezing prohibited the feedback that came in perfecting the delivery.

Yeah so I messed that up.

But apart from that my mom bought me new glasses!!!

We went to the optician yesterday to pick out a new glasses for me as my old one has been stolen, and my older one, though as adorable and as stylish [yes it is still in style ;) and I don't think it will ever go out of] as it is, is old. Hehe.

After a looooooooooooong, time of trying out glasses--there really were about 50 or so [no kidding!] glasses on the counter that I've tried on and all looked good on me [I swear you they ALL look GOOD on me! ;) Seriously though]--my choice came down to two pairs.

One was by Cartier and the other was Levi's.

I fell in LOVE with both of them, although my heart swayed more in to the Cartier's, the shape was unique, though both was rectangular, and both looked mighty GOOD on me.

But my mom was having second thoughts. And so we reasoned. And as moms are ALWAYS right, I went home with the Levi's instead and was incredibly HAPPY about it.

Whenever I caught a glimpse of myself reflected in mirrors, glass doors or in car windows and etc, I'd unconsciously smile feeling good about my appearance lol. This was really rather unwise as it was other people who worried that something bizzarre had happened up there in the attic. ;)

But having that new glasses reminded me terribly of my old glasses. It was Armani Next and had the brightest lime green rim and handles you've ever seen that it looked almost yellow at times.

I have never seen anybody wearing that glasses EVER in my life and I had thought that if not in the whole world, then in all of Indonesia I must have been the ONLY one who possessed that pair of glasses.

I cried in my room thinking of old Lemony [named after a favorite author]. And the fact that my room was the color lime green didn't help either and only pushed me into a deeper depression.

I had never found out where it went, where I lost it, and when.

It all remained a mistery.

A real ugly picture of me with Vada and Rora while wearing old Lemony.
I actually wanted to post another pic that was more appropriate (read: in which I look good) but this was the easiest to access (read: can be saved from Rora's friendster photos). :(

Lemony please come back to me I miss you.

And if there is anybody who's seen that glasses [its case was white and had a matching--lime green--lense cleaning cloth in it] I am willing to pay you a significant amount of money.

Please just give me back my Lemony. :'(

LOL. I'm on a blogroll. Seems kinda ironic because some days ago I didn't have anything to say in my blog, or even to the people around me.

It's crazy how the power of the mind works. And how motivated you are to do something when you're happy.

Anywaaaaaaaayys, I'm not a swimsuit person myself....
No, that's wrong.
Well I do wear swimsuits when I swim, or rather wetsuits, because I don't want to get tanned.
*Btw I've been meaning to post about being tan and its connection to the Indonesian "standard" of beauty.*

Photo by Michael L. Baird of bairdphotos.com

But I've been having my eye on these babies!!!

They're available on Bleubird, this vintage shop, but there are three constraints. The first is as I've said, I wouldn't want to get tanned. Second, they're quite expensive when converted into Indonesian rupiahs. And thiiird, they're vintage.

Vintage as defined by Wikipedia:

Vintage clothing is a generic term for new or second hand garments originating from a previous era. The phrase is also used in connection with a retail outlet, e.g. "vintage clothing store." It can also be used as an adjective: "This dress is vintage.

The word vintage is copied from its use in wine terminology, as a more elegant-seeming euphemism for "old" clothes.

The definition alone made me a bit squeamish.
Remember that this is a bathing suit, people.

Crazy for...

And I love Kanye too!
Which makes it like hitting two birds with one stone...wait. That doesn't seem very logical...

I'm also in love with Mad Foot!
